I was speaking with a friend the other day and I said there was a huge demand in my world this week, which made no sense to said friend... and I get it. It's not something people do much, let alone say out loud. (Kudos to said friend for always asking questions and being in allowance of my quirks ;) )
When we have a demand for something, really it's a demand of ourselves to be greater than we have ever been before, or at least that's what it is to me. How many times have you decided things have to change no matter what it looks like... and it ends up changing? That's you having a demand in your world. A demand that whatever it takes ________ (insert thing) is changing.
However we are not really taught that we have the ability, power or even luxury to be the creators of our own future. A lot of how we live our lives is about how we are at the effect or other people or situations, and very little is about asking the questions that will give you the awareness of how to change those things.
So one of the big mistakes we make is buying into this, and giving up the idea that we are the creators of everything that shows up in our lives. It doesn't mean that we created everything from a conscious place, and yet we have chosen everything that has shown up. This concept is offensive to some and incredibly curious/empowering to those seeking a greater possibility.
Making a demand isn't about making a demand of the universe along the lines of 'this had better change, I can't live this like this anymore! I need you to change this right now universe/God/someone' as though that's going to create the change we're looking for. This is just deciding that there is a higher power that is responsible for what shows up in your life, or that can end your long stroke of bad luck, or that can finally put your never ending financial worries to rest. The world doesn't work that way, sorry. You are the only person that can create your life, and every choice you make shapes your future. I know we are told this from a million sources all over the place, and for me, as I've increasingly acknowledged the truth in it over the years it's become more blatantly clear that every choice you make creates a set of possible outcomes... from the coffee you had with a friend, to when you turned left at the traffic lights instead of right. Every. Single. Choice.
So what demand have you not made of yourself yet that would actually create the change you're asking for? This week I'm in Malaysia for a 7day conference and there is a huge demand that I'm making of me...
What could you demand of you that you haven't considered possible yet?
